Under   s. 22 of the Act, it is an offense to harass, hinder, obstruct, or interfere   with a tenant in the exercise of   participating in a tenant's association or attempting   to organize a tenant’s

assocIatIon.

Did you know?

Tenants   are required to make their lawful rent payments in full every month to their   landlord. It is not legal   to withhold rent for any reasons in Ontario, other than if the LTB, (landlord   and tenant board)   orders a tenant to pay the rent into their trust.

Landlords   are only allowed to raise the rent once per year at the guideline increase,   which in 2025, is 2.5%.   And the increase must be served 90 days before the calendar date of increase

Above Increase Guidelines (AGl's) are increases above the guideline that the landlord can request the tenant to pay by serving them an N1 notice, except that tenants are not required to pay this increase until the landlord received approval from the LTB and an order is issued from them to advise the tenant as to whether the AGI has been approved or not
